Riding Lessons

preparing to ride
Where to start
Book 30 minute private lessons to learn the basics of riding. You will get an insight into horse behaviour, learn how to handle the horse with confidence and acquire the skills needed to control the horse in the slower paces.

Ridden before
Book a 20 minute assessment lesson. An opportunity to have a tour of the yard and an informal chat about your riding ambitions.  A course of private lessons may be recommended or joining a group lesson.

Riding in a group lesson
A great way to meet new friends and share a common passion.  Group lessons are usually 4/5 riders and grouped into similar age ranges/abilities with the emphasis on learning with fun.

Want to move on
For the more competitive rider there is the option of 45 minute private lesson on a dressage schoolmaster or a jumping lesson.  An ideal way to enhance your skills and further your riding career with an opportunity to enter Interdressage  competitions.

Riding out
With grass margins round many of our fields we can offer safe hacking out for the more experienced rider.  An assessment in the arena is needed as you must be able to control your horse in walk, trot and canter.

Horse Simulator
simulator
The riding centre is fortunate to have access to a Racewood trot simulator which belongs to Kesteven Rideability .  This is an ideal way for the learner rider to acquire the basics of riding the trot in a safe, controlled situation.  The simulator can also prove beneficial for the experienced rider who wishes to improve and strengthen their riding position.  Emma Sheardown, a member of Kesteven Rideability, is pictured on the simulator.  To read more about Emma and her success on the World Class Para Dressage Squad visit her website - www.emmasheardown.co.uk
London 2012
Team GBR Horse Head logo

2012 is an exciting year for me as I train a rider, Emma Sheardown, who, as a member of World Class Para Equestrian Squad, is aiming for selection for the Paralympic Games at Greenwich. London. This means that the riding school is taking a back seat whilst I focus my time and efforts to training Emma and her horse, Purdy’s Dream. There will be limited riding spaces available this year so please don’t be too disappointed if I can’t fit you in, kind regards, Karen
